Many people have faced a wide range of emotions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Remember to check in on loved ones especially more so today. .
Taking care of our mental health matters now more than ever. With 3 things in the mix in todays world – we just had the pandemic which continues to have its after effects, we have big social media era which brings multifaceted inter-relational dynamics into the picture very different form the dot com wave and we have what Vogue has termed the era of modern loneliness.
“Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.” – CDC
So how can you check in on your mental health – a good start is assessing how you are feeling and if you notice changes. in behaviours . Name the emotions and associated discomforts. Here are some good questions which I found quite helpful :
- How am I feeling lately ?
- Whats been worrying me lately?
- Am I having the basic needs met for my body?
- What am I doing to bring myself joy?
- Who do I have in my support system ?
- How can I create community around me if I don’t have any ?
